Frequently asked questions

What is Tamboji?

Tamboji is a free app for running tambola (housie / bingo) nights at real gatherings. The host calls the numbers aloud, players mark digital tickets on their phones, and the app referees every claim — no paper, no spreadsheet, no arguments.

Is it free?

Yes — Tamboji is free to play, and players never pay or sign up. Hosts can optionally upgrade to Pro for branding, ad-free rooms and unlimited saved setups, but hosting a standard game is free too.

Do players need to download an app or sign up?

No. Players just open the room link or type the 6-character code and a name. Tickets come back automatically if they refresh. Hosts sign in with Google so their game history is saved.

Does Tamboji handle money or prizes?

No. Tamboji never holds, transfers or processes money, entry fees or wagers. Any prize amounts or sponsor 'pots' shown are display labels only — real prizes are arranged offline between participants. It is not a gambling app.

Can we play in person, in the same room?

That's exactly what it's built for. The host calls numbers aloud and the family marks by ear, just like classic housie — Tamboji is the digital ticket and the fair referee. It works for remote groups too.

Is it the same as bingo or housie?

Yes — tambola, housie and 90-ball bingo are the same game with different names. Tamboji uses authentic tambola tickets (3×9 grid, 15 numbers) and the classic prizes (Early Five, lines, corners, Full House) plus fun extras.

Can I use it for Diwali, weddings or office parties?

Absolutely. There are themed calling decks and party modes, custom prizes and forfeits, a sponsor option, and a shareable Housefull recap — perfect for festivals, family functions and corporate events.

How does it stop cheating?

Every claim is verified on the server against an append-only record of the numbers actually called and the player's dealt ticket. The app never trusts the player's screen for a win, so the referee is never wrong.

Is my data safe?

We collect the minimum to run a game and never sell your data. See our Privacy Policy for details.
